Box Score Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team found themselves down early in today's (Dec. 12) game against Hope College. The Scots ultimately fell to the Dutch 83-56, bringing their overall record to 1-6 and 0-3 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Hope's record improved to an unblemished 7-0 on their season and 3-0 in the MIAA.
Alma saw their closest score of the game, 9-6 after a made layup by sophomore Lauren Higgins (Sterling Heights, Mich./Cardinal Mooney Catholic) with 6:36 left to play in the first quarter. Hope went on a tear going on a 19-6 run to end the first quarter. Alma could not fight back, only scoring nine points in the second quarter going in to halftime trailing the Dutch 45-21.
Junior Tara Padgett (Freeland, Mich./Freeland) added four consecutive points for the Scots going in to the fourth quarter trailing, 62-32. Alma was unable to cut the gap and fell to #6 nationally ranked Hope College.
Three Scots scored in double digits today and was led by
Padgett who scored 16 points. Freshman
Kassidy Blough (Jackson, Mich./East Jackson) and senior
Raeanna Zink (Frankenmuth, Mich./Frankenmuth) both notched 10 points.
Higgins and
Zink led the way for Alma with eight rebounds a piece.
The Scots will take a break from MIAA play and travel to Holland, Mich. to participate in the Post Exam Jam tournament. Alma will have back to back games on December 18th and 19th playing Lake Forest on Friday (Dec. 18) at 6:00 p.m. and Lawrence Tech on Saturday (Dec. 19) at 1:00 p.m.

- Tara Padgett scored a season high of 16 points, it was the second time she scored in the double digits this season.
- Chloee King played 16 minutes today, a career high.
- Kelsey Wolffis tied her career high of four blocks and has recorded a block in every game this year besides one.
