Angola, Ind. - Four members of the Alma College wrestling team won their respective weight classes on Saturday (Nov. 14) as the Scots participated in the Trine Invitational. Alma won the event with a team score of 165.5, while Adrian College was second with 90.5 points.

Freshman Romeo Riley (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Central) won the 141-point weight class, winning all four matches. Riley pinned Olivet's Dean Roberts in the second period of the first round, then scored a victory by fall 1:31 into his quarterfinal match against Manchester's Luis Cervantes. Riley advanced by disqualification in the semifinals, and defeated Adrian's Trenton Roesly by a 6-2 decision in the finals.

In the 174-pound flight, sophomore Travis Heller (Escanaba, Mich./Escanaba) was the victor. Heller won his first-round match over Muskegon Community College's Tyler Blagg by a 7-2 margin in a tiebreaker, then scored a 16-1 technical fall over Adrian's Zach Reynolds in the quarterfinal round. IN the semifinals, Heller posted a 6-3 decision over the University of Chicago's Paul Papoutsis before defeating Adrian's Tristen Nevadowski by a 13-7 decision in the finals.

Junior Trent Hullett (Jackson, Mich./Parma Western) was crowed champion in the 184-pound class, winning all three of his matches. Hullett received a bye in the first round before scoring a fall in the third period of his quarterfinal match with Muskegon Community College's Baker Hawan. Hullett then defeated Manchester's Brian Clark by a 7-2 decision in the semifinals before scoring a 9-2 decision against Adrian's James Davis in the final round.

In the 197-pound bracket, senior Jamie Jakes (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child) scored a fall and two major decisions en route to the championship. Jakes pinned Adrian's Drake Vanderenberg 1:51 into the first round match before scoring 12-3 and 11-3 major decisions over Chicago's John Jayne and Muskegon's LaVonte Purdue in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. Jakes won by medical forfeit in the championship match over junior Chance Smith (Hamilton, Mich./Hamilton).

Junior Victor Sosa-Sevilla (Wilmington, N.C./Eugene Ashley) finished second in the 125-pound weight class, falling to Chicago's Louis Demarco by a 7-4 decision in the finals, while sophomore Cameron Daniels (Rochester, Mich./Rochester) was the runner-up in the 285-pound flight after dropping a 6-0 decision to Muskegon's Ramon Correa.

Sophomore Hunter Machus (Bronson, Mich./Bronson) and senior Caleb Huff (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) each finished third in the 133- and 184-pound weight classes.

The Scots will travel to Alliance, Ohio on Saturday, Nov. 21, to participate in the University of Mount Union Duals. The event is scheduled for a 10:00 a.m. start at Mount Union's Peterson Fieldhouse.
