Battle Creek, Mich. - Led by freshmen Tori Basso (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) and Kennedy Hilley (Lake Odessa, Mich./Lakewood), the Alma College women's golf team finished the first day of the MIAA Fall Final tied for sixth place. The Scots posted a team score of 355 in the first of two rounds at the Bedford Valley Country Club to match Calvin. St. Mary's and Hope are tied for the lead with a score of 325.
Basso ended the day in 16th place overall with a low score of 85, while Hilley, who led the field with three birdies, is 17th with an 86. Freshman Hannah Joslin (Linden, Mich./Linden) scored an 89, while freshman Allison Starr (Spring Lake, Mich./North Point) and sophomore Katie Neiswender (Quincy, Ill./Notre Dame) posted scores of 95 and 102, respectively.
Hope's Britni Gielow recorded the low round of the day with a three-over 75.
The Scots conclude the 2015 schedule tomorrow at Bedford Valley with the second round of the MIAA Fall Final. Tee time is set for 10:00 a.m.
