Box Score Adrian, Mich. - The Alma College football team suffered a 50-14 defeat at the hands of the defending MIAA Champion Adrian College Bulldogs on Saturday (Oct. 10) night at Docking Stadium. Senior Sean McDonald (Gladwin, Mich./Gladwin) scored two touchdowns as the Scots (2-3 overall, 0-2 MIAA) dropped their second straight game.
McDonald had a career night, catching a seven passes for 164 yards to post his first career 100-yard game. In addition, his two touchdowns marked the first time he has scored twice in the same game.
The Scots and Bulldogs (3-2, 1-1) traded three-and-outs to start the game before Alma drove into Adrian territory, only to see the drive end when Archie Nolan intercepted a pass from sophomore Dylan Zaborowski (Jackson, Mich./Michigan Center). The Bulldogs failed to convert the turnover, and the Scots came back to take a 7-0 lead when Zaborowski hit McDonald for 23 yards for his first score of the season. Zaborowski finished the night completing 17 of his 31 passes for 273 yards and two TDs, but threw four interceptions.
Adrian responded immediately, scoring two minutes later to tie the game at 7-7 when Darius Philon hauled in a 41-yard pass from Stephen Milarch.
The Scots then regained the lead with 14:02 left in the half when McDonald and Zaborowksi connected again, this time for 12 yards. The drive was set up after sophomore Lazaro Chavez (San Antonio, Texas/St. Anthony's) forced a fumble on a punt return that the Scots recovered to set Alma up with first-and-10 from the Adrian 12 yard line.
Adrian answered on the next drive when Emanuel Stewart rumbled 66 yards for the score as the Bulldogs went on to record 43 unanswered points and pull away for the win.
The Scots posted 310 yards of total offense, but were held to just 37 yards rushing. Adrian had 642 total yards, including 556 on the ground. Three separate Bulldogs posted 100-yard games, led by Stewart, who rushed for 186 yards and two scores.
The Scots return home next Saturday, Oct. 17, hosting Kalamazoo College. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. at Bahlke Field on the campus of Adrian College. Alma is undefeated under the lights at home since they debuted in 2014, going 2-0 in their two night contests.

• Senior Erik Hines (Menominee, Mich./Menominee) extended his pass reception streak to 25 games with a catch.
• Sophomore Brandon Moore (Port Austin, Mich./North Huron) led the team with a career-high 12 tackles.
• Sophomore Zac Peterson (Holt, Mich./Holt) had 10 tackles, marking the third straight game with double-digit stops.
• Senior Justin Thelen (Westphalia, Mich./Pewamo-Westphalia) tallied his third interception of the season tonight, and fourth of his career.
• The Scots are outscoring opponents by 64-14 margin in the first quarter this season.
• Alma has dropped the last nine road games in the MIAA, and the last nine outings against Adrian. In addition, the Scots have lost their last eight MIAA affairs.
