Coming off a dominating victory on Saturday over Saint Mary's College (IN), the Alma College Women's Basketball team looked to keep the momentum going on the road Wednesday as they took on Hope College. Despite featuring three players in double figures, the Scots would fall to the Flying Dutch 72-53 inside the DeVos Fieldhouse.

With the loss, Alma drops 7-12 overall and 2-8 in league play. Hope improves to 17-2 overall behind a 9-1 mark in the MIAA with the victory.

The home team came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, jumping out to the 12-2 lead in the first five minutes. The Scots would quickly answer with an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to just four, 14-10, with 12:09 left to play in the first half.

Hope would swiftly regain control of the reigns, stretching to advantage to 28-16 with just over five minutes remaining.

The Flying Dutch continued to apply pressure for the remaining minutes of the half, opening up an 18-point lead, 40-22, after the first 20 minutes of action.

Both teams would exchange hoops to start the second half, before the home team would sink four-straight buckets to take the 53-28 lead with 15:03 left to play.

Despite the visitors best efforts, Alma would be unable to close the gap in the final 15 minutes, to fall to Hope 72-53 on the road.

Jr. F Raeanna Zink (Frankenmuth/Frankenmuth) led three Scots in double figures with 13 points, while adding a game-high nine boards.  Sr. G Mallory Pruett (Ishpeming/Ishpeming) and So. G Tara Padgett (Freeland/Freeland) both had 10 points for Alma, with Pruett grabbing seven rebounds. Emily Hinsman led the Alma bench with four points and three rebounds in 18 minutes played.

The Scots return to action on Saturday, Jan. 31, traveling to take on Albion College at 3:00 p.m.
