Alma College takes down league foe, Trine University

On Thursday evening, the Alma College grapplers traveled to Trine University to take on the Thunder in a conference dual meet. The Scots were victorious by a score of 26-12, improving their record to 8-6 on the season.

"We won seven of 10 bouts, losing to three nationally-ranked wrestlers but winning the remaining seven," said Head Coach, Todd Hibbs. "The guys performed very well tonight. It was one of our goals at the beginning of the season to have a winning record and at 8-6, that locks that up for us. It was also one of our goals to start winning mathes in our conference, which we have started to accomplish by beating Trine. It's hard to compete against them because one of my best friends is their coach, but I was proud of our guys and how we came down here and wrestled."

So. Matt Tuttle (Reading, Mich./Reading) had a quick fall for the Scots at 165 pounds, pinning his opponent in 1:25 to give his team some pin points. Also, Fr. Jamie Jakes (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child) performed very well at 157 pounds against the number one wrestler in the nation.

The Scots look ahead to next Tuesday when they host Olivet College in another conference dual. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Art Smith Arena and is also Senior Night and Alumni Night.
