Scots Women's Golf comes in 5th Place in season-ending Jamboree

The Alma College women's golf team concluded the 2013 schedule today with a fifth place finish in the season-ending weekend Jamboree at Bedford Valley Country Club near Battle Creek. The team had a total score of 722 in the two-day tournament.

For the season, the Scots finished in seventh place in the final MIAA 2013 standings.

Olivet won its third consecutive MIAA women's golf championship in record-breaking fashion Saturday taking first place this weekend. The Comets won this weekend's Jamboree by 23 strokes over Saint Mary's, and finished the season with an average round of 322.7, breaking the previous record of 324.0 set by Saint Mary's in 2009.

Olivet senior Adrienne Plourde won MIAA Most Valuable Player honors as the season medalist with an average round of 77.2, while Saint Mary's senior Alexi Bown was named recipient of the Sportsmanship Award.

Olivet, Saint Mary's, Calvin and Trine advanced to play in next spring's 54-hole spring qualifier that will determine the MIAA's representative to the 2014 NCAA Division III women's golf championships.

The MIAA women's golf champion shall be determined based upon lowest total cumulative strokes in MIAA fall conference matches. The league's automatic qualification to the NCAA Tournament shall be determined by a four-team, 54-hole (three 18-hole rounds) spring tournament.
