Box Score The Alma College Women's Basketball team hit the road on Wednesday evening and lost host MIAA rival Albion College, 74-61. The Scots are now 4-9 in the league and 6-16 overall, while the third-place Britons now stand at 9-4 in the MIAA and 15-7 on the season.
"We played well tonight and just hit a couple of stretches where we didn't score," said Alma Head Coach Keisha Brown. "This one stings because they really played well, but we had to foul down the stretch and it was very difficult for us because they made their free throws."
The Scots were able to maintain the Britons in close range during the first half of play, often leading by one or two points. With only 3:29 left in the first half, the Britons began to pull away, increasing their lead to 7 points. The Scots managed to regain some points though and both teams entered the locker room 33-32 on the scoreboard, Albion leading.
Beginning the second half, the Scots again kept a close score but were not able to take the lead back for the remainder of the game and the Britons pulled away ending the game 74-61.
Fr. G Mallory Pruett (Ishpeming, Mich./Ishpeming) lead the Scots with 17 points on the night closely followed by Jr. G Daniel Hicks (Marshall, Mich./Marshall) who earned 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The women's basketball team will continue MIAA play at home on Saturday against Hope College, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Art Smith Arena.
