The Alma College Wrestling team competed in the Midwest Regional on Saturday afternoon hosted by Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. The Scots finished sixth out of ten teams with 68.5 points in a very competitive performance by the young squad.
"I think that most in this field expected a first-year program to finish at the bottom of the standings," commented Alma Head Coach Todd Hibbs. "To only have two wrestlers seeded in the top six at their weights, but to have seven of them finish in the top six tells you how this team finished their season.
"Alma wrestling made a statement that we will always be ready for the biggest tournaments at the end of the year. To finish ahead of teams that were defeating us in the early and mid-season demonstrates how far this young team has come. Our coaching staff is very proud of how they finished and we can't wait for them all to be sophomores."
