Box Score On Wednesday evening, the Scots had the formidable task of hosting undefeated and #4 ranked Calvin College in a MIAA contest at Art Smith Arena. The Scots dropped a 79-49 decision and now have a record of 3-8 in the league and 5-15 overall, while the Knights stand at a perfect 20-0 for 2011-12, including 12-0 in the MIAA.
Calvin jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first half and never looked back. The Scots trailed 17-8 eight minutes into the contest, but the Knights were not going to let Alma back into it. The visitors were able to extend their advantage and go into the locker room with the 45-17 lead.
The second half did not prove to be much better for the home team, as Calvin showed why they are ranked fourth in the country. The Scots fought hard and were scrappy in the final frame, but the Knights proved to be too tough and never let them get close.
The leading scorers for the Scots were Fr. F Morgan Henry (Wayland, Mich./Wayland Union) and Fr. G Mallory Pruett (Ishpeming, Mich./Ishpeming), each with nine points. Alma outrebounded the Knights by a margin of 44-40, led by So. F Sarah Stinson (Waterford, Mich./Ketterling), who had 11 on the evening.
The Scots will play at Kalamazoo College on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
