The Scots Wrestling team hosted a triangular on Saturday afternoon at Art Smith Arena with dual meets against Division II Tiffin University and Mott Community College. The Scots came away with two impressive wins as they beat Tiffin 30-9 and Mott 52-0 to improve to 4-4 overall in dual meets this season.
"I am proud of these guys today as they are coachable and interested in a lifestyle that leads to success and it is showing," stated Alma Head Coach Todd Hibbs. "They are beginning to get confident and they should. If they keep doing what they're doing and if they continue to believe in themselves this can be repetitive."
Against Tiffin, the tone was set in the 125-pound match when So. Collin Lesko (Tecemseh, Mich./Tecemseh) won a 11-6 decision to give the Scots an early 3-0 lead. So. Tyler Foley (New Hudson, Mich./South Lyon East) answered at 133 pounds with a 6-0 decision.
Other highlights of the impressive victory over the DII Dragons included pins by Fr. Caleb Huff (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) at 149 pounds and Sr. Matt Tuttle (Reading, Mich./Reading) at 165 pounds.
In the 52-0 victory over an overmatched Mott squad, three pins set the tone for the Scots - Lesko at 125 pounds, So. Casimer Strzynski (Ludington, Mich./Ludington) at 133 pounts and Fr. Drew Barnes (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) at 165 pounds.
The Scots next compete in the Fort Myers (Fla.) Duals next weekend.
