Box Score

The Alma Women's Basketball team traveled to Adrian Wednesday night to play a league game and walked off the court with a 63-46 victory. Alma improved to 3-7 in the MIAA and 5-14 overall, while the Bulldogs are now 3-7 in the league and 6-10 in 2011-12.

"Tonight we put two good halves together that produced a huge road win for us," said Alma Head Coach Keisha Brown. "Each player contributed, especially our bench. We have had a rough season with losses and injuries, so it was nice to see the girls continue to fight and believe in themselves."

The first half was a back and forth affair and the Bulldogs had a 14-13 lead with 10:31 reamaining. However, a lay-up by Jr. G Danielle Hicks (Marshall, Mich./Marshall) 30 seconds later gave the Scots a 15-14 advantage, and the visitors would not trail again in the game.

Adrian would tie the game twice during the remainder of the half, but Alma took a seven-point lead at 41-34 on a three-pointer by Fr. F Morgan Henry (Wayland, Mich./Union) at the 1:48 mark. Ultimately, the Scots finished the first 20 minutes with a 34-26 advantage.

As expected, the home team hung tough though the Scots still held a five-point lead, 41-36, with 12:21 remaining in the game. However, Alma responded at that point and went on a 15-2 run and led 56-38 at the 6:35 mark. The visitors would lead by 19 at one point and eventually walk off the court with the 63-46 win.

Hicks led the team with 12 points and added eight rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Henry finished with nine points. Also scoring nine points for the winners were So. F Sarah Stinson (Waterford, Mich./Kettering) and Sr. G Jessica DeBruin (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores), while Stinson added five rebounds and DeBruin hit three from beyond the arc. In addition, Fr. G Mallory Pruett (Ishpeming, Mich./Ishpeming) contributed eight points, and team-highs with five assists and four steals.

The Scots have a bye this weekend and will resume their season next Wednesday, when they host Calvin College at Art Smith Arena, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
