On Friday evening, the Alma College Wrestling team competed in the Muskegon Duals and it was a very fruitful evening for the Scots.
It didn't take the Scots long to get in the win column with their first dual meet in 27 years being a victory over Jamestown (NY) 32-12. Later in the evening the Scots fell to #3 ranked (Junior College) in the nation Muskegon 30-16.
"It was a good day as we got our first dual meet win in the first match of the season, which was definitely an exciting moment for the guys and our fans," said Alma Head Coach Todd Hibbs. "I was proud of how we wrestled against Muskegon in the loss. They are a traditional power in the junior college ranks and are currently ranked third in the country. Our guys competed with them. Today, we'll be able to get all sorts of experience in the open tournament."
Sweeping two victories on the evening for Alma were 165-pound Sr. Fletcher Roberts (Hampstead, NC/Hampstead) and Fr. Paul Mikhjian (Rochester, Mich./Adams).
