Alma Football concluded their 2011 season with a 16-0 loss at Adrian College
The Alma College Football team concluded their 2011 season on Saturday afternoon, when they traveled to Adrian College to finish the MIAA campaign. The Scots finished with a league mark of 1-5 and an overall record of 2-8, while the Bulldogs concluded 4-2 in the MIAA and 8-2 overall on the season.
The Bulldogs scored 13 first quarter points and added a field goal in the second quarter score all the points they would need in securing the win over the Scots. Alma committed five first half turnovers and a stifling Adrian defense kept the clamps down on the visitors all afternoon.
Adrian QB Brandon Miller's one-yard touchdown plunge was sandwiched by two P Logan Mitseff field goals (41 yards and 22 yards) for the 13 points in the first quarter. Mitseff booted a 20 field goal through the uprights for a 16-0 halftime advantage for the home team.
Alma threatened on a couple of occasions in the second half, but could not penetrate the Adrian defense. The Scots were able to muster just 125 yards of total offense, including only three passing yards, on the afternoon. Alma was led by Jr. RB Aaron Hahn (St. Louis, Mich./St. Louis), who had career-highs in carries with 24 and in yards with 114.
Defensively, Alma allowed just the one touchdown and 286 yards of total offense, including only 118 passing yards. Sr. LB Anthony Sabatella (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Warren DeLaSalle) led the Scots with nine total tackles, including 2.5 for loss. Sr. DL Ed Raby, Jr. (Reed City, Mich./Reed City) added eight tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss, while So. DL Frank Furnari (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) contributed six tackles, a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.
