Alma Women's Basketball drops 55-44 decision at Aquinas on Wednesday

Box Score

Alma's Women's Basketball team played a non-conference game against Division II Aquinas College on Wednesday, and dropped a hard-fought 55-44 decision to the Saints. The Scots dropped to 1-4 on the season, while Aquinas improved to 3-6 in 2010-11.

"We started out slow in the first half, but found a way to fight back to tie the game midway in the second half," said Alma Head Coach Keisha Brown. "It is tough to be 1-4 right now, and right now, we are looking for leaders to step up and give us direction. Hope College coming in this weekend is exciting and we look forward to the challenge."

The host Saints led Alma by a score of 29-16 at halftime, but the Scots came out strong in the second half, and tied the game at 34-34, with 10 minutes to go. However, Aquinas scored the next four points and never looked back to pick up the 11-point win.

Sr. F Sydney Beckwith (Weidman, MI/Beal City) led the Scots with 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals in 35 minutes of play.
