WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Scots Keep Rolling, Beat Saint Mary's 68-64

The Alma College Women's Basketball Team (8-10, 5-6) traveled to South Bend, Ind. to take on the Belles of Saint Mary's College (9-11, 5-7) looking for their third straight conference win and despite playing without one of their best players, pulled out the 68-64 win.

Without the services of sophomore forward Meagan Hoblett (Cadillac), the rest of the Scots picked up their game level and came together to get a big road MIAA win. Leading the way for the Scots was senior Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel C.C.) who edged ever closer to her 1,000 point as the 21 she put up tonight leaves her just three short of the milestone.

Also coming up big for the Scots was sophomore Lacey Best-Rowden (Lansing/Waverly) who has already proved to be one of the best on ball defenders in the league, displayed her offensive skills, putting up 17 points in tonights game. Heather Keenan (Charlotte) chipped in 13 points and freshman Stephanie Bradshaw (Livonia/Churchill), who has been getting more playing time as of late, added eight points on three of four shooting.

The Scots stay on the road as they travel to Adrian College this Saturday, Feb. 9 to take on the Bulldogs with a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
