WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Hope Outlasts Scots, 69-40

Alma, Mi.- The Alma College Women's Basketball Team (9-14, 6-10) hosted the #1 ranked Hope College (24-0, 16-0) for senior day and fell to the Dutch by the score 69-40 in their home finale.

The Scots started the game playing very well and 15 minutes in found themselves in a back and forth battle for the lead. However, a late Hope run gave the Dutch the 38-26 lead going into the half. The second half was all Hope as the Scots shot five for 35 from the field and 0-11 from deep.

Hope's swarming defense made it hard for the Scots to get good looks all night, holding the Scots two leading scorers, Meagan Hoblet (Cadillac) and Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel C.C.) to a combined 10 for 32 from the field and 23 total points.

In their last games at Cappaert Gymnasium, seniors Matuzak and Ashley Wojtas (Kent City) both played their hearts out, as they have throughout their careers in the Maroon and Cream. Wojtas finished today's game with five points and a team high nine rebounds. Matuzak scored nine points and added four rebounds and three assists for the Scots. Hoblet led the Scots with 14 points and pulled down seven boards.

The Scots await today's conference results to find out where they will be playing on Tuesday next week in the conference tournament. Check back for details.
