ALMA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES A TOUGH 70-68 GAME AGAINST DEFIANCE COLLEGE

Alma's Women's Basketball Team traveled to Hope College on Friday night and came away with a tough 70-68 loss against Defiance College of Ohio in the first of a two-game tournament.  

Meagan Hoblet led the Scots with 17 points and 11 rebounds while Lacey Best-Rowden had 14 points and five rebounds for Alma. Heather Keenan added 11 points and two assists for the Scots.

Alma led 36-29 after one half as a tough defense held Defiance to just 28% from the field. Defiance took a 70-68 lead with 15 seconds to go and the Scots had one last chance to tie or win the game on their last possession. But after a three-point attempt by Lauren Hasler bounced off the rim, Defiance rebounded the ball and held on for the win.

The Scots take on Concordia of Minnesota today at Hope College, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
