WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Scots Lose Another Close Game, 63-55

Alma, Mi.- Senior Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel C.C.) scored 29 points for the Scots (3-7, 1-3) against the Bulldogs of Adrian College (4-8, 2-2), but it wasn't enough as a late surge by Adrian paired with a poor shooting performance in the second half led to the 63-55 Bulldog win.

Alma shot well in the first 20 minutes and went into halftime trailing by the score of 27-26. However, the Bulldogs came out and made 11 of 22 shots in the second half to the Scots eight of 26 and dealt the Scots another close loss at home in this young season.

The bright spot in the game for Alma was Matuzak as she rediscovered her stroke and came back to the form that made her an All-MIAA player in 2006-07. Besides her 29 points, Matuzak also pulled down seven boards, blocked two shots, and had three assists. Sophomore Kathryn Bigelow (Alma) had an outstanding first half that helped keep the Scots close and finished with eight points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

The Scots return to action this Saturday as they travel to Angola, Ind. to take on Tri-State University for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
