Saginaw senior Kristina Schwab and Oxford sophomore Beth Hubbard shot opening round 89s to pace the Alma College women's golf team at the Ferris State Bulldog Women's Golf Invitational at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids Sept. 2.

The Scots are currently in 17th place after day one of the two-day tournament. Alma shot a 364. Ferris State sits atop the standings with a first round 305.

Also scoring for the Scots were Linden sophomore Kailey Ruggerillo with a 91, Tecumseh senior May Kate Leski witha 95 and Rockford senior Megan Stevenson with a 102.

The tournament continues with 18 holes on Sunday, Sept. 3.
