ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team have jumped onto a two-game winning steak after defeating Kalamazoo College 71-63 on Saturday afternoon. The win puts the Scots just above the .500 margin on the season (10-9) and two games below the margin in the league (5-7).
Senior Darcie Philp (Ubly) led the Scots in the win with 19 points and 13 rebounds while senior Katey Peacock (Gowen/Greenville) added 15 points and 5 assists. Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel Catholic) and Ashley Borcherding (Millington) reached double digits in the points column with 12 and 10 points.
A key to the win for Alma was their ability to shoot 44 percent from the field, and 46 percent from the three point line. Darcie Philp had 9 field goals while Matuzak and Borcherding chipped in 2 threes each.
The Scots return to action on February 8th against Adrian at Adrian College. The tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Adrian is (7-13) overall and (3-10) in the league.
