GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The women's basketball season ends with a 13-12 record and a 7-9 mark in conference play with a 63-52 loss to Calvin College in second round MIAA Tournament action Thursday.
The Scots came out of the gate strong, leading by as many as nine points midway through the first half and took a six point advantage into the locker room at halftime, 24-18.
In the first half, Alma shot over 50 percent while holding the Knights to just 26 percent and Calvin's three-point looks to just one-for-10 in the half.
Alma held its advantage until 8:52 remaining in the game when Calvin cut the lead and took it over for good at 8:22. Alma fouls down the stretch pushed the game out of reach.
For the game, Calvin shot 40 percent to Alma's 45 percent, outscoring the Scots 45-28 in the second stanza.
Katey Peacock (Gowen/Greenville) led the Scots with 14 points while the Philp sisters, Erica and Darcie (Ubly) each contributed 10 points in the effort.
