Alma Falls to 0-2 in MIAA Play with 75-50 Loss at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In a game which the Scots never found the lead, only Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel) managed double-digit figures with 12 points. She added five boards in the Scots' 75-50 loss to Calvin in Grand Rapids on Saturday afternoon. Alma falls to 3-4 on the season and 0-2 in MIAA action.

Alma shot just 37 percent from the field while the Knights shot 48 percent from the same range.

Through the majority of the first half, the Scots kept their point deficit to no more than four points until a three-pointer at the five-minute mark set them back seven points. By halftime, the Scots were down by eight.

Coming out of the locker room, Calvin continued to score, extending its lead to as many as 28 points before the game's end at 75-50 in the Knights' favor.

Alma enjoys a brief hiatus before returning to action following the holiday on Dec. 29-30 at the Heidelberg Holiday Classic.
