Alma Drops First Non-League Game to Aquinas, 60-45

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team fell to 4-2 on the season with a 60-45 loss to Aquinas in Grand Rapids tonight.

Held to just 18 points in the first half - down 32-18 at the half - the Scots matched the Saints in the second half but it was not enough to come back from the halftim deficit.

Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel Catholic)
led the Maroon and Cream with 11 points while Darcie Philp (Ubly) added 10 points.  Philp recorded another double-double, adding 10 rebounds to her 10 points on the evening.

One key statistic came in the form of 27 Alma turnovers compared to just 12 from the Saints.

Alma returns to action Saturday when it hosts Saint Mary's in an MIAA match-up at 3 p.m.
