Zach Riepma will enter his 6th season as Assistant Football Coach in the Fall of 2025.
Riepma joined the Alma College football coaching staff in January 2020.
The 2024 offense featured seven All-MIAA selections, and one all-region honoree. Alma ranked 6th in total offense, 13th in scoring offense, 14th in passing offense, 15th in sacks allowed, 19th in reed zone offense, 20th in 3rd down conversion rate, and 28th in first downs gained. Carter St. John ranked in the top 20 as an individual in nine different stat categories, rankedin the top 10 in five categories, and ranked 4th in Division III in total offense.
Riepma's 2023 offense was one the nation's most lethal. Carter St. John was the second most efficient passing quarterback in all of college football, throwing for 38 touchdowns on 71% passing. Devon Frenchko led the entirety of college football in yards per catch, and registered over 1200 yards. The Scots scored 46.85 points per game, including a 24 point 4th quarter against #2 Mount Union in the playoffs.
In 2022, the Scots offense recorded a breakout season, with Eddie Williams breaking the Alma College single season rushing record, racking up 1,184 yards, In 2023, the passing game took a massive step forward. Carter St. John threw a Scots record 38 touchdowns, and Devon Frenchko led all of college football at 32 yards per reception. Both were named All-Americans.
Riepma had spent the previous six years as an assistant coach at Northwood University, serving as the wide receivers coach for two years before being promoted to offensive coordinator for the 2016 season. His responsibilities included creating scouting reports, play-calling, and monitoring student-athletes' academics. Under his direction, the Timberwolves' rushing attack averaged over 200 yards per game and scored nearly 26 points per game during the 2017 season.
Prior to his time at Northwood, Riepma was a graduate assistant with Central Michigan University, where he worked with the wide receivers. He has also been a graduate assistant at Wayne State University in 2012, working with the defensive backs.
Zach is the son of Pat Riepma, who spent 16 years as the head football coach at Northwood and is the all-time winningest coach in its program's history.
Riepma resides in St. Louis with his wife Kirstin, and their 3 kids, Emersyn, Alayna, and Weston.
