Phil Miller is in his 1st academic year as Alma College's Director of Athletics. Miller brings experience in all three divisions of the NCAA, and joined the ScotsĀ on October 15, 2025,Ā following a national search.
Miller came to Alma after serving as Associate Director of Athletics for Operations and Facilities at Franklin and Marshall College, a Division III institution, and isĀ responsible for the overall development and general management of Alma's intercollegiate athletics program.
Miller had servedĀ at Franklin and Marshall since 2023, providing support for overall department leadership, facilities, event management and operations, capital projects, risk management, recreation, sports performance, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. In that time, he oversaw the renovation of athletic facilities on campus, helped lead the implementation of department management tools, supervised coaches and staff, which included budget management, accomplishing program fundraising initiatives and goals in supporting the experience of student-athletes.
Prior to Fanklin & Marshall, Miller previously served as athletic director at Rosemont College (PA), where he led 13 varsity sports and provided oversight to an athletic department that supported over 200 student-athletes. A leader across Rosemont's campus, Miller was responsible for NCAA compliance, athletic facility management, budget management, and scheduling, while also worked directly to enhance the student-athlete experience by serving as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) advisor. Additionally, he worked on the college's Academic Provost Council and Strategic Planning Committee and helped secure a $1.5-million state grant for facilities.
A 2010 graduate of Edinboro University, Miller earned his bachelor degree in physical education. Miller also holds master's degrees from both Indiana University of Pennsylvania (sport management, 2012) and Slippery Rock (criminology, 2015). He most recently earned his doctorate from East Stroudsburg in 2020, studying educational leadership and administration.
A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Miller resides in Mt. Pleasant.
