Alma College

Brian Martin will enter his 2nd season at Alma College in the Spring of 2025, and joined the Scots Baseball staff as an Assistant Coach in July of 2023.

Martin is a recent graduate of Michigan State University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Leadership & Strategy and a minor in Public Relations. He was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree as well as a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. During his time at MSU, he was a three-time letter winner of the Varsity Baseball team. During his senior season he was named a team captain. Martin was able to successfully return to play after undergoing UCL surgery in 2020, racking up 34 innings on the mound over his career.

Martin has been an instructor in the private sector for three years, providing private lessons that covered basic fundamentals as well as specific pitching, hitting and fielding instruction. He completed the Rapsodo Pitching Certification in the spring of 2023.

In the summer of 2023, Martin was named the pitching coach for the Traverse City Pit Spitters of the Northwoods League. During his time, Traverse City won the first half of the league’s schedule, clinching a playoff berth. Under Martin, the team finished the first half with a 3.50 team ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 262 strikeouts, and .238 opponent batting average.
