Elkhart, IN – Alma College Swimming and Diving continued dual meet action on Saturday, taking on Bethel, Aquinas, and Olivet. Both the men and the women were defeated by Bethel and Aquinas, while defeating Olivet.
Men (Aquinas 173, Alma 61 | Bethel 138, Alma 85 | Alma 163, Olivet 20)
For Alma's men, the 400-medley relay team of
Morrison Wood,
Cody Benkovsky,
Max Nielsen, and
Colin Moran scored a victory over Olivet to take an early lead.
Eli Mull scored wins over Aquinas and Olivet with his 17:02 in the 1650 freestyle, going on to grab another win over Olivet in 100-freestyle.
Brent Riehl's 1:45 in the 200 free swept the event, scoring wins over all three opposing teams. The senior went on to set a personal best in the 100 fly, picking up two more wins against Olivet and Bethel in the event.
Noah Newman claimed a win over Olivet in the 50 free at 23.30,
Owen Reed and Benkovsky made it a 1-2-3 against the Comets.
Kyle Scheck won the 200 IM over UO, and Wood won the 200-backstroke against the Comets. Moran picked up a W in the 500, and Benkovsky added another win in the 200-breaststroke.
Closing things out, the 200 free relay team of Riehl, Reed, Newman, and
Andrew Barrett scored wins over Bethel and Olivet, finishing in 1:32.2.
Women (Aquinas 195, Alma 43 | Bethel 183, Alma 49 | Alma 156, Olivet 41)
For the Scots women, the 400 medley relay team of
Sofia Floros,
Lily Smith,
Abi Spitzley, and
Grace Ludema combined to take a win over Olivet.
Ludema went on to take a win over the Comets in the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle, as did Floros in the 50 freestyle and 200 breaststroke.
Sierra Scott won against UO with her personal best of 2:28 in the 200 IM. Spitzley won the 100 butterfly against Olivet with a season best time of 1:06.92. Val Vinci took the 500 free, and Smith won the 200 breaststroke. In 1M diving,
Maddie McGuire scored a 124.45.
Closing out the meet, the 200 free relay team of
Delilah Zingelewicz, Scott,
Laney Voisinet, and Spitzley combined to complete the full meet sweep of Olivet, winning in 1:47.
The Scots are back in action on Saturday the 15
th, when they host Albion College and celebrate senior day.
