Marquette, MI – Alma College Women's Wrestling took on the ninth ranked team in women's college wrestling as they traveled to #9 Northern Michigan on Tuesday evening. The dual was a reschedule from mid-January. Alma fell by a final of 26-12.
At 101 pounds,
MacKenzie Burger got Alma on the board with a win via forfeit. Northern responded with a win by a 10-2 decision in the 109 making the score 6-3.
The Scots scored another win via forfeit at 116 credited to
Chloe Colton to put Alma up 11-3. NMU took the bouts at 123 (tech fall) and 130 (forfeit) to regain the lead of the dual for good, 12-11.
The Scots gained a point at 136 thanks to
Jaclyn Dietz. The senior lost a narrow 3-2 decision, but her scoring gained the team point for Alma, bringing the team totals to 15-12.
Northern got forfeit wins at 143, 155, and 170, making the score 30-12. The final bout of the evening went to NMU at 191.
Cassidee Easey had tied her opponent at 11-11, however the Wildcats were given the team decision based on tiebreaker criteria. Final, 33-13.
The Scots finish up the regular season, and look forward to postseason action at the NCWWC Regionals.
