Grand Rapids, MI – Alma College Women's Swimming was in the pool at Calvin on Saturday to take on the Knights, and Albion College in double dual action. The men were defeated 217-20 by Calvin, and 166-56 by Albion. The women were defeated 189-42 by the Knights, and lost 149-85 to Albion.
On the women's side, Megan Neeley picked up a pair of wins in the mile when she finished first with a time of 19:15.61. Grace Ludema picked up a win in the 200 freesetyle with a 2:04.18, finishing third overall, beating both Albion swimmers. Laney Voisinet finished right behind her with a 2:06.09. Marissa Luzac clocked a 5:25.97 in the 400 IM to take home 4th place overall. Dani Ries finished in 2nd overall, claiming a win over Calvin in the 200 Fly with a 2:24.70. Lily Smith was the top finisher for Alma in the 200 breast, clocking a personal best 2:44.74.
On the men's side, Eli Mull kicked off the individual events with 2 wins by finishing the mile in first place. Mull also clocked a 53.68 in the 100 free. Jack Knoper finished in 1:52.15 in the 200 freestyle, a season best for him. Jon Beerbower put up a 2:13.40 in the 200 fly to finish 5th overall. Gavin Swiecicki placed 7th in the 500 free with a 5:39.57. Matt Arrigoni also finished in 4:37.95 to mark a new season best in the event.
Despite the final scores, the season and personal bests were more signs of great progress as the Scots get closer and closer to championship season. Alma will be back in the pool against Kalamazoo on Saturday, with the meet set to start at 1 PM. Be sure to come out as Alma celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day, and the swim program honors it's seniors.
