Oberlin, Ohio - The Alma College men's and women's cross country teams ran in the Inter-Regional Rumble this morning (Oct. 13) hosted by Oberlin College. The men took tenth place in their 8k race and the women finished 20th of 26 teams in the 6k.
How It Happened
- Aubrey Hemstreet and Luke Reed (Benzonia, Mich. / Benzie Central) had the top times for the Scots again this week, Hemstreet finishing 64th overall (23:54.9) and Reed landing in 30th place in the men's race (26:31.1).
- Alma's top three female runners today all finished the 6k in under 25 minutes. Juniors Madeline McDonnell (Grosse Point, Mich. / Grosse Point South) and Blaire Showers (Ithaca, Mich. / Ithaca) crossed the finish line with times of 24:50.1 and 24:59.3, respectively.
- Mallory Munderloh (St. Louis, Mich. / St. Louis) earned points for the Scots with her 140th-place time of 25:14.3.
- Alma's top five male runners from today's race finished the 8k in under 28 minutes. Nathan Idalski (Gaylord, Mich. / Johannesburg-Lewiston) and Karl Stroup (White Lake, Mich. / Lakeland) took home times of 27:14.2 and 27:33.9, while Jack Montgomery finished in 27:43.1, in 98th place overall.

"It was a true cross-country race today. There was some rain overnight that softened up the course, so times were not going to necessarily be fast. It was about racing the teams within the race. The coaches felt we did that well and gained some valuable insight about us heading into the MIAA championship."

The Scots will compete at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships on Saturday, October 27. The meet, hosted by Kalamazoo College, will take place at the Eastern Hills Golf Club at 11 a.m.
