Volleyball falls to Calvin on Senior Night

Alma, Mich. -  The Alma College Volleyball team fell in straight sets 25-20, 25-18, 25-18 to nationally ranked Calvin University on Friday (Nov. 1). Alma played hard in all three sets, but the fourth-ranked Knights were too much to handle. Before the game, the Scots honored their senior class of Georgia Miller (Georgetown, Ky. / Scott County), Naomi Mason (Kaleva, Mich. / Brethren) and Ashtyn Snyder (Shepherd, Mich. / Shepherd). With the loss, the Scots fall to 17-12 overall and 5-3 in the MIAA. Alma will be the number four seed in the upcoming MIAA tournament.

Leading the Scots offensively was sophomore Sara Majerle (Rockford, Mich. / Rockford) with nine kills and eight digs. Junior Haley Novak (Midland, Mich. / Bullock Creek) led the Scots in the assists category with 22; she also had six digs. Miller had five kills and seven digs. Sophomore Haley Ullrich (Elk River, Minn. / Elk River) and freshman Rachael Parrett (Gladwin, Mich. / Gladwin High School) had five kills, each.

That concludes the regular season for the Scots, they will be back in action on Tuesday (Nov. 5) in the MIAA tournament. Time and place is yet to be determined.
