Volleyball earns victory over Olivet

Olivet, Mich.- The Alma College volleyball team earned another MIAA victory on Tuesday (October 22) over the Olivet Comets. With the win the Scots move to 16-9 overall and 5-2 in conference play. Olivet falls to 13-9 overall and 2-4 in the MIAA.  

After dropping the first set 23-25, Alma fell behind 2-6 in set two before calling a timeout. After the timeout it was all Alma as they earned the win 25-15. Sets three and four were both close but the Scots were able to win 25-20, 25-22.

Leading the Scots offensive attack was sophomore Sara Majerle (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) with 17 kills and 15 digs. Fellow sophomore Haley Ullrich (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) had 9 kills and 10 digs. Junior Haley Novak (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek) had 12 digs, along with 39 assists. Senior Georgia Miller (Georgetown, Ky.Scott County) had 7 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Kylie Sicken (Shelby Township, Mich / Utica Eisenhower) had 5 blocks to lead the Scots on the defensive side.

The Scots will travel to Hope College to face the Flying Dutch and the University of Chicago (Ill.) in a doubleheader. The games will begin at 2:00 pm from the DeVos Fieldhouse on the campus of Hope College.
