Volleyball Swept by Two Nationally Ranked Opponents

Oshkosh, Wis. - The Alma College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to nationally ranked opponents on Friday evening to begin the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Tournament. The Scots were swept by No. 19 Wisconsin-La Crosse 3-0 (16-25, 11-25, 19-25) and No. 23 Wisconsin-Oshkosh 3-0 (14-25, 15-25, 17-25).

Dorothy Buening (Pinckney, Mich./Pinckney) posted team-highs of five kills and eight digs for the Scots (8-7, 3-5 MIAA) against Wisconsin-La Crosse (14-2). She also added an ace and a block assist. Georgia Miller (Georgetown, Ky./Scott Country) had a team-high .300 kill percentage.

The third set of the game against the Eagles was the closest of the night, as Alma killed 13.9-percent of its attacks and tallied 19 points.

The third set against UW-Oshkosh (14-3) was also the closest of that match. Down 21-12, Alma went on a 4-0 run to get to within seven, but the Titans closed the set and match on a 5-2 run.

The UW-Oshkosh Invitational concludes on Saturday. The Scots will take on Carthage College at 11:00 a.m. and Edgewood at 3:00 p.m.
