Women's Tennis Earns Fifth Straight Win

New Concord, Ohio - The Alma College women's tennis team swept Muskingum University (OH) 9-0 on Saturday (March 9). The Scots improve to 6-3 with the win, while Muskingum falls to 0-10.

How It Happened

  • The match between Alexis Hereza (Okemos, Mich. / Williamston) and Mackenzie Simmons started out tight, but Hereza was able to get the win in the first set, 6-4. She followed that up with a convincing 6-1 win in the second set.
  • Emily McDonald (Wheeler, Mich. / Bullock Creek High School), Madeline Kugler (Williamston, Mich. / Williamston) and Bernadette Garibay (Lansing, Mich. / Grand Ledge) dropped a total of four games to their opponents and each also earned a sweep in one set.
  • Brooke Butterfield (Portland, Mich. / Portland) and Abigail Davenport (Downers Grove, Ill. / Downers Grove South) teamed up in doubles play to defeat Sarah Welsh & Emma Lewis, 8-2. Caroline Ross (Sandusky, Mich. / Sandusky) and Lucy McCarthy (Rockford, Mich. / Rockford) followed with an 8-1 win over Kayla Hall and Peyton Morrow.
