Women's Tennis Defeats St. Francis 8-1

Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Alma College women's tennis team defeated St. Francis 8-1 on Sunday (Feb. 24).

Brooke Butterfield (Portland, Mich. / Portland) and Abigail Davenport (Downers Grove, Ill. / Downers Grove South) each won their matches in three sets, with Davenport earning an 11-9 win in the tiebreaker. Caroline Ross (Sandusky, Mich. / Sandusky) swept Gabby Buday with a pair of 6-0 wins, while Emily McDonald (Wheeler, Mich. / Bullock Creek High School) dropped just one game to Franny Muhlenkamp.

In doubles competition, the Scots earned a pair of 8-6 wins, while the team of Hannan Hakim (Elkhart, Ind. / Elkhart Memorial) & Bernadette Garibay (Lansing, Mich. / Grand Ledge) won their match 8-2.

Alma returns to action on Monday (Feb. 25) at Defiance College. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
