Scots Topple Trine Behind Rajewski’s Hat Trick

Angola, Ind. - Makenzie Rajewski (Midland, Mich. / Midland) scored Alma College women's soccer's first hat trick in five seasons in the team's 3-1 win over Trine University (IN) on Tuesday (Oct. 1) evening. The game was the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener for both teams and was initially delayed due to rain.

Rajewski first scored in the 11th minute off an assist by Lily Stephan (DeWitt, Mich. / DeWitt High School). She scored again in the 51st and followed that up with another in the 59th minute. She only took four shots in the game and the three that were on goal all scored.

Ally Wentworth (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant) saw only three shots and stopped two, allowing Jazlynn Davis to score in the 75th minute. Shots were even between the two teams, but the Scots (6-2-1) had over twice as many shots on goal, 7-3.

Alma returns home to welcome Adrian College to Scotland Yard for a match on Saturday (Oct. 5) at noon.
