Women’s Soccer Dominates Manchester

Manchester, Ind. - The Alma College women's soccer team took down Manchester University (IN) 4-0 on Saturday (Sept. 28) afternoon. The Scots improve to 5-2-1 with the win.

Alma got goals from Makenzie Rajewski (Midland, Mich. / Midland), Lexi Russell (Williamston, Mich. / Williamston High School), Lily Stephan (DeWitt, Mich. / DeWitt High School) and Paige Messick (Midland, Mich. / Herbert Henry Dow High School). Emma Vrooman (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Farmington Hills Harrison) earned her first career win with two saves in 45 minutes of action.

Rajewski got Alma on the board within seven minutes of the game starting. Russell followed that up with a goal in the 20th minute to give the Scots a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Stephan tallied the game's third goal in the 53rd minute on a penalty kick. Messick had the last goal off an assist from Taylor LeMasters (Minnetrista, Minn. / Waconia).

Alma led in every statistical category. It outshot the Spartans 21-4, earned six more corner kicks (8-2), and committed four fewer fouls (9-5).

The Scots return to the pitch on Tuesday (Oct. 1) when they travel to Angola, Ind. to face Trine University. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
