Women’s Soccer Secures 2-1 Win Over Concordia-Chicago

Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's soccer team defeated Concordia University of Chicago 2-1 on Saturday (Sept. 21) afternoon to open Alma's Homecoming weekend.

Meghan Pfile (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon) and Paige Moore (St. Johns, Mich. / St. Johns High School) each scored for the Scots (4-2-1). Pfile scored her first goal of the year just before halftime off an assist from Ashley Oldham (Gilbert, Ariz. / Chandler Basha). Moore extended Alma's lead in the 70th minute with her second goal of the year from an assist by Lily Stephan (DeWitt, Mich. / DeWitt High School). Stephan led the Scots with four shots in the game, two of them on goal. Lexi Russell (Williamston, Mich. / Williamston High School) had three shots.

Nicole Tuzinowski (Dexter, Mich. / Dexter) made her second start of the year and tallied five saves in net. Esther Annoreno led the Cougars (0-6-1) with five shots.

Alma returns to action next Saturday (Sept. 28) when it travels to Manchester University (IN) to face the Spartans at 1:00 p.m.
