Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's soccer team defeated Hiram College (OH) 2-0 on Sunday (Sept. 1) in a game the Scots controlled from the start. Alma is now 1-1 on the season while Hiram is 0-2.
Freshman Kayleigh Reilly (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant High School) netted her first career goal 15 seconds into the match off a cross from Taylor LeMasters (Minnetrista, Minn. / Waconia). Lily Stephan (DeWitt, Mich. / DeWitt High School) picked up her second goal of the year off a rebounded shot from Lexi Russell (Williamston, Mich. / Williamston High School) in the 64th minute.
The Scots had possession of the ball 58-percent of the time. They spent nearly two-thirds of that time in their offensive half of the field. Alma also outshot the Terriers 22-4 and took six corner kicks to Hiram's none. In addition, two Terriers were issued yellow cards for unsporting behavior.
Alma returns to Scotland Yard on Friday (Sept. 6) to host Heidelberg University (OH) at 4:00 p.m.
