Women’s Soccer Answers Twice but Falls in OT

Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's soccer team dropped its opening match of the season 3-2 in overtime to Coe College (IA) on Friday (Aug. 30) afternoon.

Twice the Kohawks got out to one-goals leads and twice Alma answered. Freshman midfielder Lily Stephan (DeWitt, Mich. / DeWitt High School) and sophomore midfielder Lexi Russell (Williamston, Mich. / Williamston High School) each scored their first career goals to tie the game at one in the first half and two in the second. Coe's Morgan Petsche scored the game-winner on an elevated shot to the far corner of the net midway through the first overtime period.

Junior goalkeeper Ally Wentworth (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant) allowed two goals in 70 minutes of action. Sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Tuzinowski (Dexter, Mich. / Dexter) played the other 25 minutes in net and allowed one goal.

Alma returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Hiram College (OH) at 1:00 p.m.
