Women's Soccer Comes up Short Against Illinois Tech

Chicago - The Alma College women's soccer team fell to the Illinois Institute of Technology 1-0 on Sunday (Sept. 9).

Julia Taliana scored the game's only goal in the 3rd minute on an assist by Katie Hiefgen.

The two teams combined for 28 shots in the game, but only five were on goal. Ally Wentworth (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant) made one save in the game; Alma was also credited with a team save.

Alma is now 1-3 overall while IIT improves to 3-0-1.

How it Happened

  • Taliana's goal came at the 2:31 mark of the game. She shot from the right side of the box and beat Wentworth to the near post.


  • IIT's Katherine Nishimoto was given a yellow card in the 75th minute.
  • Lauren Sollestre (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Marian) led Alma with four shots and one on goal. Lexi Moyer (Suttons Bay, Mich. / Traverse City West) also tallied a shot on goal.
  • The Scarlet Hawks committed eight fouls to Alma's five.
