Women's Soccer Earns its First Win of the Season in the Final Minute

River Forest, Ill. - Sophomore forward Lauren Sollestre (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Marian) scored in the game's final minute against Concordia Universtiy of Chicago on Saturday (Sept. 8) to break a scoreless tie and give the Alma College women's soccer team its first win of the year. Alma is 1-2 after the win while CUC is 0-4.

Sollestre led all players with six shots, four of which were on goal. The Cougars managed just one shot on goal in the game which was saved by sophomore goalkeeper Ally Wentworth (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant).

How it Happened

  • Alma peppered CUC with four shots and a corner kick in the final ten minutes before Sollestre came through at the 89:11 mark of the game.

Notables

  • Alma had 15 shots in the game to Concordia Chicago's three. Alma also had five corner kicks; the Cougars had one.
  • Lexi Moyer (Suttons Bay, Mich. / Traverse City West), Melissa Gal (Bartlett, Ill. / Bartlett), and Makenzie Rajewski (Midland, Mich. / Midland) each tallied at least one shot in the game.
  • Gal was given a yellow card in the 82nd minute.
