Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Alma College women's soccer team was shut out on Tuesday (Oct. 10) evening, falling at Kalamazoo College by a 4-0 margin.
The Scots (2-9-2 overall, 2-9-0 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) allowed one goal in the first half before the Hornets pumped in three tallies in the final 45 minutes. Libby Munoz scored the first two goals for Kalamazoo (9-6-0, 8-3-0 MIAA) and added an assist on the third marker.
Senior goalkeeper Kelsey Postema (Marshall, Mich./Marshall) made six saves as the Hornets outshot the Scots, 16-10.
How It Happened
- Libby Munoz scored in the 24th minute from in front of the net after a battle for the ball in the box following a corner kick.
- Munoz scored again after a long run n the 63rd minute, firing a shot past Postema from about 15 yards away.
- Allison Shaw scored in the 68th minute from the right side of the box after taking a pass from Munoz.
- Joy Huntzicker added the game's final tally in the 72nd minute, finding the net from 15 yards out after receiving a crossing pass from Allison Shaw.
Alma returns to Scotland Yard on Saturday, Oct. 14, to host Calvin College as part of a soccer doubleheader. The men's team takes on Kalamazoo College at Noon, followed by the women's game against the Knights at 3 p.m.
