North Manchester, Ind. –The Alma College wrestling team took home 10thplace at Manchester University's Spartan Mat Classic Saturday (Jan. 12). Junior Zachary Cooper (Chippewa Hills, Mich. / Whitehall) won his weight class where he didn't give up a single point in his five matches on the day.
- Cooper's dominance started with a win by technical fall just 1:19 into the bout. After two wins by pin, Cooper finished off with a win by tech fall in both the semifinals and the finals. The junior is still undefeated this season with an 18-0 record.
- Freshman Dylan Seaton (Port Huron, Mich. / Port Huron Northern) won three times at the tournament including one by tech fall and one by major decision in what ended up being a solid day where he took sixth place.
- Sophomore Mason Priest (Grandville, Mich. / Grandville) had four wins during his time at the tournament in what was a seventh-place day. Priest started with a close decision win and then after falling into the consolation side of the bracket, the sophomore reeled off three straight wins.
- Freshman Jayce Kuehnlein (St. Louis, Mich. / St. Louis) began his run through the 157 lb weight class with back-to-back wins. After losing by a close decision in the quarterfinals, the freshman bounced back to a win on his way to a seventh-place finish.

"Long day of wrestling, guys wrestled real well. We had several guys who went 3-2 or 2-2 and it didn't finish how they wanted but they had good days. So overall it was a good day." – Head Coach Jeremiah Tobias.
The Scots prepare for another MIAA dual as Olivet College comes to Art Smith Arena on Thursday at 7 p.m. Both teams enter the match with 1-0 conference records.
