Alma, Mich. - The Alma College wrestling team wrapped up the home portion of the 2015-16 campaign on Thursday (Feb. 4) night with a dominating 39-7 victory over Trine University at Art Smith Arena. The Scots took eight of the 10 weight classes to win their 10th straight home meet.

Five seniors - Shawn Brewer (New Boston, Mich./Huron), Caleb Huff (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis), Jamie Jakes (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child), Trevor Maresh (Northville, Mich./Northville) and JJ Sadler (Wetmore, Mich./Munising) were honored prior to the meet. It was all Scots from there, as Alma won the remaining seven bouts, including two by pinfall and two by technical fall, to cruise to the win.

Freshman Evyn Bryant (Romeo, Mich./Romeo) notched his ninth pin of the year at 149 pounds, while Brewer improved his record to 20-5 with his second technical fall of the year. Head Coach Todd Hibbs

"The big thing about senior night is that you want to get them all in the lineup and have them all get a win, and we were able to do that. They've been a great group and it's unbelievable how they've put us on the map in the nation in wrestling. Kudos to them, the've been a great class."

"We've been resting a few guys to make sure that they are ready (for the NCAA Division III Regionals) and these guys will get a week where they will train in the weight room and get a little rest off of the mat and then a couple of weeks to get ready for the regionals. If we wrestle like we have on our best days this year - when we were at Mount Union and Adrian, a couple of times where we hit peak performances - if we do that, we know we can take half or more of our team to the national tournament and do what people have been saying. We can be a top six or top eight team in the country."
