Alma, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced the women's lacrosse All-MIAA teams Wednesday (May 3) afternoon. Both senior Darby Kahler (Coldwater, Mich. / Coldwater) and freshman Allie Ray (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue) were both honored as members of the All-MIAA Second Team.
This is the first time Kahler has been placed on an All-MIAA team as a midfield player. After starting in 15 games this season, she led the team in draw controls with 46 and was seventh in the league. In seven games this year, Kahler collected a team-high in draw controls, notably her season-high of seven against both Heidelberg University and Olivet College. Kahler also tied for first on the team offensively with 24 goals and 26 points. Defensively, she was tied for first with 19 caused turnovers and fourth with 35 ground balls.
Ray was named the goalie for the Second-Team. Playing in 14 games with 13 starts, Ray was the regular season conference leader with a save percentage of 51.7 percent. She made 148 saves and averaged 10.57 saves per game, a new program record for a single season. In 10 games this season, Ray made at least 10 saves, including a career-high 18 against Albion College. Ray finished her freshman season with a record of 7-7.
Under the direction of second year head coach Ashley Johnson, the Scots improved their record to 8-8 overall and 2-6 in the MIAA.
