Waukesha, Wis. - The Alma College women's lacrosse team earned its sixth victory of the year with a 6-3 win at Carroll University on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Scots to 6-2 overall, tying them for the program's win totals in the 2015-16 season.
Katie Rogers (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington Hills) and Shelby Frazer (Holt, Mich./Holt) each posted two goals in the game, with Darby Kahler (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) and Olivia Benoit (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe North) scoring the others. Rogers, who is tied for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association lead in assists with eight, now has six goals on the year. Frazer is tied for second on the team with 11 goals.
Allie Ray (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) made 11 saves in the game. She leads the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in wins with five, save percentage at 58.3 percent and goals allowed average at 7.16.
Down 3-2 after one half, Alma scored four unanswered goals in the second, including both from Rogers. The Scots won the ground ball battle, taking 25 to Carroll's 19. Kahler led the team in ground balls with six, one shy of her season high.
Alma returns to the field on Wednesday, April 5 against Albion when it opens conference play.
