Women's Golf finishes 4th at final MIAA Jamboree

Marshall, Mich. - The Alma College women's golf team finished 4th as a team at the final MIAA Jamboree of the season on Thursday (Oct. 3) at the Medalist Golf Club. The Scots finished with a score of 347, putting them ahead of Calvin University and Trine University by one stroke. Saint Mary's once again took the top spot with a 329. With only the MIAA Fall Final remaining, the Scots sit in seventh place in the conference standings trailing Albion College by only two strokes.

Leading the way for the Scots was sophomore Ava Gardiner (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) with a score of 84. Gardiner's score was good enough to finish tied for 9th place overall. Following her was junior Kirstyn Cotton (Midland, Mich./Midland) who finished right behind Gardiner with an 85 and tying for 13th place. Next for the Scots was freshman Morgan Yates (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd). Yates shot an 86, and finished tied for 19th place. Senior Jennifer Kowalczyk (Northville, Mich./Northville) finished with a score of 92, and tied for 36th place. Finishing the scoring for the Scots was junior Grace Grelak (Canton, Mich./Salem) who shot a 97 and tied for 43rd place.

The Scots will now prepare for the MIAA Fall Final at the Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek, Mich. The event will begin on Friday (Oct. 11) at 1:00 pm.
