The 2012 Alma College Women's Golf team completed their season on Saturday afternoon with a seventh place finish in the MIAA Championships. The Scots had a final team score of 761 and were paced by Jr. Chelsea Erb (Lake Odessa, Mich./Lakewood), who finished in a tie for seventh place with a weekend mark of 169. Erb made the All-Tournament team based on her performance during the championships.
Olivet completed a dominating fall season Saturday to repeat as MIAA women's golf champions, capturing the title by 51 strokes over runnerup Saint Mary's. The Comets shot a second-round 336 to finish 21 strokes ahead of Saint Mary's in the 36-hole season-ending MIAA tournament at Bedford Valley Country Club.
Olivet junior Theresa Damico who was named the conference's Most Valuable Golfer following the tournament, earned medalist honors with rounds of 79 and 81 for a 36-hole score of 160, edging out Calvin's Carlia Canto by one stroke.
The championship is the fifth for the Comets in the last seven years. Olivet will be joined by Saint Mary's, Hope and Calvin next spring for a 54-hole tournament that will determine the MIAA's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III championships.
